Public Speaking

"According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two? Does that seem right? To the average person that means that if they have to go to a funeral, they'd be better off in the casket than giving the eulogy." - Jerry Seinfeld, well-loved American stand-up comedian and actor.

Why do people F.E.A.R public speaking?
Is it because of their False Expectations About Reality!
Take comfort from the wise words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, American lecturer/philosopher/essayist/poet, who said: “All great speakers were bad speakers at first.”

Whether you are speaking before an audience of only one person, a small group or a packed auditorium of hundreds – YOU, the speaker are “King”. Always put on your best show for “your subjects”.

All public speaking can be divided into one of four categories:
  • to entertain;
  • to inform;
  • to persuade; or
  • to inspire.

Public speaking requires that you know your audience’s interests and address these; research your topic well; structure your thoughts into an attention grabbing opening – logical and sequential main body – memorable conclusion; provide a clear message with supporting arguments; use vocal variety and body language that enhance your spoken message; practice beforehand so as to iron out problem areas and make qualitative improvements. Then, during your delivery, speak from the heart – speak with PASSION.
